Pre-requisites to PA School

Unfortunately, PA programs differ in requirements in many ways from one another, and courses are no exception. If you are in high school (or going into college) or are currently starting the pre-PA journey, I highly recommend you take all of these courses including the highly recommended ones by the program you are interested in, no matter what your major is. With 268 credits total, I had all of these courses and more science courses, which allowed me to apply to any programs I want as long as I meet the following for each program:

  1. Whether the pre-req for the program has an expiration date (most schools will only have an expiration window for A&P and micro, but are lenient with others being 10+ years old).

  2. If the course title was different from the program I’m interested in, I emailed them the course catalog and verified it’ll count.

  3. Note whether the online version or hybrid version is acceptable.

A good rule of thumb is to keep few schools in mind that you really want to apply to and make sure your courses are finished within the time frame they ask for.
